LIPOSUCTION
WHAT IS LIPOSUCTION:

bum
This is one of the most frequently performed types of surgery. It consists in modelling the silhouette by sucking off the fatty tissue located under the skin. The procedure yields lasting effects. Further increase of body weight results in a proportionally smaller growth of the fatty tissue in places treated by liposuction than in others. One thing to bear in mind, however, is that this surgery is meant to accompany dieting rather than replace it. Therefore liposuction yields best results in people who are on a diet or who are slim but have a problem to get desirable results despite a strict diet because there always remains excess of fatty tissue in certain body areas. The procedure is performed with a cannulae introduced to the subcutaneous tissue through small incisions on the skin. Usually incisions are made in hidden places therefore the post-operative scars are almost unnoticeable. Excesses of fatty tissue is removed from under the skin using negative pressure(suction).

HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE:

This operation is conducted in operating-room conditions. It can be performed under general anaesthesia, with the patient totally asleep, or, in special cases, with local anaesthesia similar to that used by dentists. The surgery can take from several minutes up to a few hours depending on the volume of fatty tissue to be removed. Usually small incisions (5 mm) are made in skin folds leaving no visible scars. Fat is removed with a thin cannulae introduced under the skin.

WHAT ABOUT RECOVERY:

After the operation the patient stays in the surgery for a short period of time (most often 24 hours) and can go home after that. Daily check up visits and changing dressing are required for a few more days.
